Meet our Certified Diabetes Educator

Hello, My name is Amy.

I am a Registered Dietitian and Certified Diabetes Educator. My focus for the past 7 years has been on Diabetes and helping clients gain a better understanding and help them to gain better control of their Diabetes. Over the years, I have discovered that clients initially feel that the diagnosis of Diabetes is a "life sentence". Upon initially hearing the words, "you have Diabetes" I know what you are thinking, "really? Me?" Diabetes was always something that someone else had, not you. So, you go on the computer to gain information. The information you receive is sometimes conflicting. You hear stories of how others have tried to manage their diabetes which may also be conflicting. You are not alone. I have heard countless misconceptions and I am excited that I have been given this wonderful opportunity to help you gain a better understanding and improve your control of your Diabetes. Your diet, exercise and weight are personal issues and rather sensitive issues to discuss. I have helped many clients achieve their goals however large or small. The most important think to remember is that you have to be willing to make your new life a "lifestyle". I am sure you have tried countless diets. A diet is a temporary solution to a permanent problem. If you are willing to go the distance, you can achieve anything your heart desires. I have the experience and am here to help you.

Please let me hear what topics interest you. I am here to help you with your journey to success in the management of your Diabetes. Think over what you envision your life to be like and let me help you gain control.

Let's talk.

Amy's Most Recently Asked Questions

  • I am looking for a meter that won’t require a blood sample/ pricking my finger? (click for answer)

-Unfortunately there are no "bloodless" glucose meters at this time. In order to measure a patient’s blood sugar level accurately, all at home meter systems require a blood sample (which means pricking.)

The Diabetes Care Club does however offer Alternate Site Testing meters that do not require you to prick on the finger but instead on other less sensitive areas, such as the palm of the hand or forearm. These areas have less nerve endings and are less painful to prick. Please contact a DCC representative at 1-800-840-7711 so they may further explain.
