What is your opinion of the Atkins Diet?

I'm curious as to what people think of this diet. Anyone willing to answer and discuss? Thanks :)

Basically, it is my past 2 experiences with Atkins, that has helped me to adjust on this diet. Only thing different is that I juice my dark leafy greens with a fruit, but I also use Corinne Netzer's book of food counts-Don't guess--find out! (Amazon) It is my food bible!!!
I stay away from most fruit and when I do not, I make sure that it is one of the lower carb fruits.

I believe in balance so anything that completely cuts out any one thing worries me.

Sysy,
Good question. It has been my experience with people that has helped shaped my opinion.
Over the years, I have not witnessed much success with people losing weight from the Atkins diet and keeping the weight off over time.
In addition, I have found that this type of diet in itself is difficult to maintain over time and any lost weight typically has been regained and then some. It appears to be just a temporary solution to what we have encountered which is a permanent issue that merely requires lifestyle change over time.
